So yeah I haven't done this whole livejournal thing in a while, a year and a bit well I guess that can be seen as normal by blogging standards there been more than a few thousand "fly by night" blogs the only difference with mine I will probally come back to it from time to time I've always got i've something to rant about even if I'm just screaming at a wailing wall. So i guess i best say what I've been up too in the past year well lets see. I finished art college just barely and did an AS course at the neighbouring sixth form college which was well not exactly fun but I acturally learnt things and I just got a place at an university in london which is quite interesting and scary and many other things. I also start up a website were I try and produce regular video content with some friends it's more than a hassle but I love doing it and that's pretty much been my year kinda depressing that an entire year if my life can be summed up in two sentences but then again life can be summed in one sentence so i guess it's not so bad.

What should I discuss tonight as it always seems that I update this blog at night. I guess I could talk about the my little pony craze going on, I'll openly admit it I'm a brony but of a certain calibre I feel needs to be made clear. While I enjoy the show and think it's great the thing about this new community is the fanon or fan created canon. Over the past four, five months I've seen an out pouring of creativity, posisitivity and many other ity words form a group of people who quite frankly are obsessing over a children's cartoon show and what they're doing with it is truely wonderful.

The amount of really quite astounding work coming out of the brony community, the fanfiction that I've read is some of the best short stories I've read in a long time and I read quite a few. The art work also is pretty god damn brilliant either from know people in the community such as CSIMadMax on deviant art or just random people posting stuff on ponibooru the standard is pretty high in this community. Alot of that can be attributed to the guys at equestria daily who do a stellar job of agrigrating (that a horrible word to spell, even poorly) all the best works from around the internet and is a wonderful gateway for new fans or just a simple filter for the more lazy people in the community (ala me). Though another weird thing to come out of this in my not particulaly humble optinion is the ask x character tumblr accounts as alot of them esspically for the background/fan characters are a lot of fun I do love Berry punchs and pinkimeana they're both so wonderfully wrong. Though I should say I'm not sure if this is a new thing brought about by thus fanbase but it is the first time I've come across it. Now another aspect i find really interesting is the treatment of background characters as they're give as much love and sometimes even more love than the main cast memebers by the fanbase. The amount of stuff written about derpy hooves is just atronomical while she is the most popular background pony this once again seem like an odd occurence in a fanbase.

I should probally clarify a few things quickly as I may seem abit stary eyed to a few of the imaginary readers I have, this is the first fan base I've watched grow (emphersis on watch) but it is not the first I've been involed with, I was apart of the Battlestar Galatica Fanbase for a few year, I cam to the party just a tad late for firefly so i got to watch a community breakdown in that instance which was oddly fascinating to watch and I arrived at the Daria fan base way way way late but there was still this spark, a tiny glow of life in it still and I kinda hope that it never truely goes away. Also when I say fanbase I mean when there is a large bulk of fans talking about the show as it's going on or while there is still a creative drive from the original creator not four or five people posting on a forum reminissing about a show.

I'd also Like to discuss a point if I may and if you say no well fuck you this is my blog and you're just here to poke funny at the monkey scribbling on the walls with his own dung so shut up and deal with it. A thing leveled at the bronies is that they're obsessing over a kids show, when it's seen as fine to obsesses over say tranformer or G.I.Joe or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as many people still do and the only difference is that this fanbase isn't seening it for the first time when they were children as if liking something as an adult can be pass off as "well I liked it when I was a kid" yet you've spent hundreds of pounds on dvds, toys, video games in your adult life over a show you claim you just liked as a kid something doesn't add up here. Though to be fair I'm not a nostalgic guy I just had great taste as a kid and love the show I loved them with just as much passion, let me think back I had the simpsons when it was at it's best, star trek the next generation, deep space nine, voyager, the tribe, Daria, hercule's legendary adventures, xena warrior princess, x-files and much much more damn tv was great back then, why the fuck does it suck so much now, I got one show now and it about mashmellow pastle coloured ponies well i guess I'll just have start watching more tv i guess maybe I'll finally check out that game of thrones series but that's season is already over. Least acording to the rumour mill the next episode of my little pony is coming out this september.

star trek 11 fails
bunnypredator
firefry1
righty ho, full star trek 11 fail list-

1, right off the top the configuration of the uss kelvin, in particular the placment of the impluse engines (which is also a problem on the enterprise), the impluse drive is placed at the back of the saucer section instead of the below the warp nessels, this configuration doesn't become standard design till next generation which is set 50 or so years in the future.

2, the number of shuttles, (a problem shared with the enterprise once again)
on the kelvin the are upwards of 37 shuttles, and on the enterprise there is upwards of 89 shuttles! Even deep space nine didn't have that many shuttles it only had 3. The enterprise, the flagship of the entire federation fleet in the orginal series only had 4 shuttles to her name, now bear in mind the kelvin is a single nessel science vessel, so logic dictates that that it would have far less.

3, the number of crew, it stated fairly early on that kirk's farther saved 800 lives when he was captain, so thats a crew of what 850 or so people, starships of enterprises configuration or constitution class as it is known carry a crew of around 430, so while baring in mind that the kelvin was a relativly small science vessel it seems odd to have at least 800 people on board unless they where cramed in like scardines.

4, weaponary used, through out the film every side uses a form of pulse energy weaponary, now this is acceptable for the romulans to use because they use a form of disruptor simular to klingon weapons but star fleet stop using those during the peirod of the enterprise series and switched to the directed energy weaponary but both ships a phasers both use this out moded form of weaponary.

5,the amount of killing, when kirk and spock are running about the romulan's ship they are constantly using the kill setting on they're phaser and only use stun once, as star fleet officers they are duty bound to only kill in the most extreme of situations and only when they're lives are directly in danger. Now i know i could be argued that that is all quite true but it seemed really quite wrong.

6, the romulans, now in the time line of star trek humans and romulans have fought a war but never seen one an other (of exact reasons and explanation see star trek tos balance of terror, its on youtube) and there is aperlutly no contact between humans and romulans and even the vulcans have no idea about the romulans. So there can be no diplomatic negotations which is suggested and they shouldn't even recognise that nero is a romulan.

7, the construction of the enterprise, we see early on when kirk joins star fleet a constitution class star ship is being built in iowa, i don't that it is the enterprise but it the only star ship of that class that we see and we're ment to assume its the enterprsise so anyway. that type of starship isn't designed to land, ever only voyager could land and why would you build a ship of that size and weight on the ground when you can just as effectively do it in space, where its ment to be, and make live easy for yourself. And seeing as it has been star fleets practice to build they're ships in space since the first warp five ship (nx enterprise) it seems odd to me.

well that apears to be it for now, probally till i watch it again. So thank you for reading me ramballing compaints and grievences.

Well here we are again, late at night, nothing really happening as ever, once again making a pointless entry on an acount that i'm not sure anyone reads. But o'well its cathartic for me, so once more in to the breach dear hearts, cry havoc!, and let slip the dogs of war.

Of late i've been fearing for modern science fiction, in my mind there hasn't been anything good since battlestar galatica which ended nearly a year, two years ago depending where you are and before that for a brief second firefly which was a stroke of brilliance. And before i'd say there wasn't really anything really good since the mid-nighties when you had three star trek series running in the same 3 year period the next generation, deep space nine and voyager. Also babylon 5 and X-files, i consider this time a fucking golden age of science fiction. Though in the early 2000s we did get a tiny payout with farscape, andromeda and star trek enterprise but frankly none of these compare to the last lot, don't get me wrong i completely love these shows but more for there camp values or they remind me of those other shows which is a shame. So lets set the times line late eighties to late nighties great sci fi, early to mid 2000s meh sci fi and mid 2000s brilliant sci fi. Now if you've been paying attention you'll have noticed i havn't meantioned any of the stargate seriesies yet well the reason is two fold, one, i fogot them before and can't be arsed to rewrite what i put before, and two, more importantly did anyone really think that was good sci fi? It was enjoyable but it was just a series of sci fi clichies thrust together into a vaguely coherent show, though to give it credit it has managed to create a execellent mythos. So what does the future hold for sci fi? Well there are three possibilities as i see it. Firstly, Caprica and preqel the battlestar a two episode pilot has been realeased which i haven't seen and the whole consept seems fishy to me but i hope i'm pleasently supprised about. Secondly, Stargate universe, now this i have seen the first 9 episodes of which it seems like battlestar galatica lite as enjoyable as any other stargate series nothing special. And finaly, now this one hasn't been green light yet as far as i know, the last infomation i can get if from 2006 and isn't secedualed for realease till 2014, you might have guessed it, the annimated star trek series very dubious about this one could be good, could be fucking awful.

Well i've waffled on far two long now so
peace out

So i finally return to my little soap box in the darkest, dankest corner of the interwebs, filled with people who write much more useful and funny than anything i can say. And the reason i'm back like a flesh eating disease because i've got nothing better to do as ever. I spose i should say the journal webcomic is over dead, incinerated and spread over the hills. I figured out that the problem with a journal comic or a journal of any kind, is if nothing happens in your life, you've got nothing to write about. And me being the idiot that i am i need a creative project to work on, and by working on i mean let it sit on the shelf while i watch futurama and think "fuck i should be working on that" and get right back to watching futurama. So I'm working on a piece of fuction, a weird steampunk detective thing, imagine sherlock holms meets full metal alchemist with a bit of dune mixed in there, so yeah i'll probally never post anything of it and i'm only in the development stage thus, figuring the world, political systems etc, sounds gripping don't it. I guess what i'm saying is don't hold your breath, or do i'm not here to tell you what to do, just to advise and look on bemusedly.

Recently I've been getting involed in the steampunk community, and by involed i mean lurking on various boards and drooling over merchendise i can't aford, so basically as much what i was like with the 'goth' and 'cyberpunk' communities, that said the 'goth' communities were pretty much dead, pun intended, it was at the end of the gothsplotion on the early 2000s, i may post something about that one day, as i think most people weren't aware of it and/or don't care but this is not a place for things of importance. But i digress, so i have listening in to all these interesting convosations and some of them are just mind blowing. People debating with mathmatical equations to back it, the best way to build a airship or designing rayguns and the practicallities there in. And this is countered with real humour and resourrecting victorian jokes and most inportantly victorian sensibilities of politeness and curtisy. I can really get down with group, but i doubt i'll be more vocal.

Of late, over the last two weeks i havn't been make all the updates for my webcomic, i have missed the last two tuesday updates and had to post filler, although as a viewer of webcomics i enjoy filler art at times, i can be quite amusing at times but as an artist i feel like i'm letting down my viewer(s?). It pisses me off that i'm letting down the interwebs, because i can honstally say as a whole the interwebs has never let me down. How am i going to rectify this problem? quite simply by doing what i always do when theres some problem, procrastinate till it goes away. So i guess my reader ship well and truly fucked
peace out Y'all

I'm currently an art student, and currently on half term and thus i've getting to lye in till past noon, staying up till about 6/7 in the morning or don't bother sleeping at all but i find i'm more productive in the hours after midnight that the hours after noon. Its an odd thing, i'll end up painting another canvas or writing more to what ever story i'm working on. During the day i can barely muster the energy to throw on a dvd, let alone engage in anything creative, its rarther odd. I may start uploading some art work as of next entry.

So i'm sitting here rocking out to some zz top, damn these guys are awsume, and i'm thinking is it just me or could all of their power come from their almighty beards? I mean just look at chuck norris, he had the strength of ten men and that came fro his beard or was that santon? Either way it does seem that beards enhance you powers, look at kevin smith, with out his beard he can't be funny at all. So if i grow one would it increase my powers of  Ineptitude?
